Description

Moxifloxacin is a fluoroquinolone anti-infective agent, which inhibits bacterial topoisomerase IV and DNA gyrase (topoisomerase II) enzymes which are essential for bacterial DNA replication, transcription, repair and recombination thereby impeding bacterial growth.

Indications

Acute bacterial sinusitis

Acute exacerbation of COPD including bronchitis

Community-acquired pneumonia

Mild to moderate pelvic inflammatory disease

Complicated skin and soft tissue infections

Dosage and Administration

The recommended dose is one 400mg tablet once daily for 5 – 14 days depending on the type of infection.

Should be swallowed whole with sufficient liquid and may be taken independent of meals.
