Description

Cefepime - Wide range of broad spectrum activity and more resistant to beta lactamase than first to thrid generation cephalosporin
 Cefepime has greater inhibitory activity than ceftazidime against Streptococcus pneumoniae and most other streptococcal species, and against staphylococcal species
 Cefepime has better clinical cure rates than ceftazidime in patiens with complicated urinary tract infection ( 72-89% , 60-88 % )

Indications
 Indicated in the treatment of the following infections caused by susceptible strains of the designated microorganisms
    Pneumonia (moderate to severe) caused by Streptococcus pneumoniae ,  Empiric  treatment for Febrile Neutropenic Patients.
    Uncomplicated and Complicated Urinary Tract Infections (including pyelonephritis) , Uncomplicated Skin and Skin Structure Infections , Complicated Intra-abdominal infections

Dosage
 Recommended dosage for adults and children over 12 years of age : 1 to 2 g IV / IM 12 hourly
    For paediatric 1 month to 12 years : 50 mg/kg 12 hourly (or ) Dosage directed by the physician
