Norfloxacin is a quinolone/fluoroquinolone antibiotic.Norfloxacin is bactericidal and its mode of action depends on blocking of bacterial DNA replication by binding itself to an enzyme called DNA gyrase, which allows the untwisting required to replicate one DNA double helix into two.
Indication
- Urinary Tract Infections
- Uncomplicated urinary tract infections
- Complicated urinary tract infections
- Sexually transmitted diseases
-Uncomplicated urethral and cervical gonorrhea due to Neisseria gonorrhoeae.
- Prostatitis due to Escherichia coli.
Recommended dosage is 400 to 800 mg 12 hourly depending upon the severity of infections (or ) dosage directed by the physician
